About Loman

Loman Control Systems is a Control System Integrator (CSI) located in central PA. Loman Control Systems is in the business of providing automation solutions to improve productivity, profitability, quality and security for manufacturing facilities. Loman also provides services for municipal water and wastewater facilities.

Loman Control Systems, Inc. is a Certified member of the Control System Integrators Association (CSIA).

• Loman was an active member of the Best Practices Committee of the CSIA for 9 years as the Certified member audit criteria was being developed. The committee created the Certified member program in 2000, and periodically updates the criteria for being Certified. The purpose of the Certified member program is to audit a CSI to verify that it exceeds the minimum score when tested against audit criteria. For the clients of CSIs, the laborious process of selecting CSIs with which to work is greatly simplified because when they choose a Certified member they know the CSI has already been tested for core abilities. Of course the client still has to make the final determination of whether the CSI meets their specific needs. See Related Links for a link to the CSIA website.

• Loman Control Systems has been serving the automation needs of manufacturing companies since 1991.

• Being located in Lancaster County Pennsylvania, it is an easy drive to clients in central Pennsylvania (York, Lancaster, Harrisburg areas), eastern PA (Philadelphia, Reading, Allentown areas), Maryland, and Delaware. Modern communications certainly has simplified providing services at a much greater distance, but many of our clients appreciate our close proximity to them.

• Controlling and automating manufacturing equipment is what defined factory automation in the past. However, we are asked more and more to provide collection and automated reporting of production, energy management and test data, with results available on plant networks via web-enabled computers. Tracking and traceability of products through production is also commonly requested. Managers need more information available to them that indicates the performance of their plant, in real-time and in report form, especially publicly-held companies that seek to comply with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. With these web-applications, information is easily available within the plant (Intranets) and also outside the plant via the Internet.

• Does your application require services valued at a few thousand dollars or a few hundred thousand dollars? Please know that our clients come to us for both small and large applications.

• Our existing clients consistently give us high praise for the quality of our proposals. They like the detailed yet concise presentation because they know exactly what they're getting. During project implementation, they also appreciate the details put into the planning and Functional Specification phase and the documentation provided to them at the conclusion. The documentation enables our clients to be self-sufficient.

VALUE, is defined as what you get in return for the dollar amount spent. The lowest up-front cost is not necessarily a good value. Although Loman is typically not the lowest priced CSI, our clients tell us the quality end result that we consistently provide makes Loman a good value. Client references are available upon request.

• Machine safety is another important issue for which our clients come for help. Safety concerns can be particularly worrisome in the event of any OSHA citations, workers compensation issues, and liability claims. Consider Loman for assistance in providing machine safety solutions.

In summary, Loman is a control system integrator in the business of working with our clients to develop industrial automation solutions to improve productivity.

Some of the reasons that our clients have come to us are:

1. Publicly-held companies lack plant intelligence which makes corporate management vulnerable to penalties associated with the Sarbanes-Oxley Act

2. Tracking and Traceability of products through the process are inadequate to satisfy the Bioterrorism Act

3. Energy costs are increasing and understanding where savings are possible is essential.

4. Management doesn’t know why the effectiveness of a machine or process is lower than expected.

5. Machine safety is inadequate, employees are susceptible to injury and the employer vulnerable to Osha citations and lawsuits.

6. Control system hardware is obsolete, fails often, and replacement parts are not available

7. Software is no longer supported or it’s too old to run on modern computers

8. They can't meet production requirements or be cost competitive with their present processes

9. Scrap rates are too high and product quality is too low

10. Machine changeovers take too long causing a loss of production time

11. Product inspection by humans is expensive and inadequate

12. Worker's compensation claims caused by repetitive motion are expensive and action must be taken to automate specific manufacturing steps to alleviate these issues

13. Their internal staff is overloaded, so they ask us to be an extension of their staff

14. Machinery to perform dedicated manufacturing tasks is not readily available from any OEM so custom machinery is required

We don't suppose you have any of these problems at your plant?
